New York Rockers Stage Concert to Benefit VH1 Save the Music and Honor Marky Ramone

Five of New York’s most popular rock acts will perform at the Rock & Roll Ball, a Benefit Concert for VH1 Save the Music, at the Knitting Factory in New York City on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 PM. “Guest of Honor,” Ramones drummer Marky Ramone, will also be on hand to represent the legendary musicians who began their careers in New York. Hosted by concert presenter and VH1 “Metal Moments” Metal Expert, John Ostronomy, the show will feature Nef Jones, Captain T & Ostronomy with special guest Richie Scarlet, Lourds, Queen V, and Joker Five Speed.

According to Ostronomy, the musical lineup is very diverse. “Lourds dazzled audiences with her violin at Carnegie Hall at age 6, Queen V embodies the rock and roll rebel, Nef Jones’ influences include everything from Sheryl Crow to Zeppelin and Hip Hop, and Joker Five Speed plays turbo charged, pile driving rock,” said Ostronomy. “Plus, I’ll be performing with my fellow VH1 “Metal Moments” Metal Expert, Captain T, a.k.a. Mark Strigl.”

Ostronomy is also looking forward to appearances by two of his favorite guitarists, Richie Scarlet, who will join Captain T & Ostronomy onstage, and Jimi K. Bones, who plays guitar with Nef Jones. “I’ve been a fan of Richie’s since his years with the Ace Frehley Band and Mountain, and I’ve followed Jimi K. Bones’ career from his days with Skin & Bones and Kix to his more recent tour with Blondie,” said Ostronomy.

The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America’s public schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country and raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for our nation’s youth.

Advance tickets for the event are $10 ($12/day of show) and are available online at KnittingFactory.com and TicketWeb.com as well as from the Knitting Factory box office at 74 Leonard Street in New York City. Tickets may also be purchased by phone by calling the Knitting Factory at 212-219-3132.

Music Extreme Reviews Ronin CD

Ronin has been receiving great press and radio play in South America. Here is yet another great review from our friends south of the Equator - Argentina's www.musicextreme.com

Opening with a climatic track called "Six Eight" that soon turns into a heavy guitar riff that while fitting
the mood of the previous music it gives a feeling of heaviness to the music. And that is a good way to
describe Ronin´s music: a good mix between climatic moments and heavier ones. "Take the Sky" opens with clean guitars and then the guitar adds some melody with some effects that makes it fit the rest of the band perfectly. Captain T´s vocals are melodic yet full of energy sounding really metal in the heaviest parts and really moody in the slower ones. A band of contrasts they use a really distorted guitar that clashes with the ultraclean used for the arpeggios. I find the seven tracks here really well developed and fullof ideas played within a song context. There is also originality here and I would recommend this album to people that like modern metal with a lot of climatic moments.

Six Years Later, Critics Still Praising Captain T's US Aliens CD

Check out this brand new review of the 1997 Captain T CD, US Aliens, on State Of Emergency, AND don't miss Captain T performing songs from this classic CD with Ostronomy on March 30th at the Continental in NYC. The show starts at 8:30PM!!

Captain T – ‘U.S. Aliens’

Captain T and their ‘U.S. Aliens’ EP is surrounded with conspiracy and paranoia. The Sci-fi plot and government cover-up twists blend seamlessly with the sonic, metallic rock - creating a rather unique and exciting record. Captain T is apparently an Ex-CIA agent who wishes to expose the various government and departmental lies through catchy and hard hitting music.

Song such as the soaring anthem; ‘America’s Free’ delve into the alien cover ups of Area 51. Whilst the riffs flow against you and the vocals soar and dip along the warm air currents above the ocean of guitar. Whereas the rather softer faux love song of; ‘Aqua Blue’ that sets the scene in Las Vegas with plenty of Elvis references and suspicious lyrics. There is a wealth of samples and sound effects interwoven throughout this record and thus create a very deep and layered atmosphere. Read the entire review.
